What do you know about ‘Doctor Who?’ Drop your knowledge at team trivia Saturday
Hardcore Whovians can put your “Doctor Who” knowledge to the test — and break out that “Doctor Who” costume you’re dying to wear — at a team trivia event Saturday in Chicago.
Pub quiz masters Geeks Who Drink are hosting “Don’t Blink: A ‘Doctor Who’ Quiz” in 20 U.S. cities at bars and restaurants, including River North’s Municipal Bar + Dining, 216 W. Ohio, at 5:30 p.m. (This is the same spot Geeks Who Drink put on a “Breaking Bad” trivia night in September; I can personally recommend the lobster roll.)
The trivia competition is timely, coming one week before the highly anticipated world premiere of the 50th anniversary special, “Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor,” at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, on BBC America.
“‘Doctor Who’ has been around for 50 years, which should give our writers and editors plenty of material to work with,” said Geeks Who Drink spokesman John W. Smith.
Quiz questions about the British sci-fi sensation will focus mainly on the modern “Who” era, starting with the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) through his current incarnation (Matt Smith). But be prepared for some classic “Who” material to be thrown into the mix, too.
“We expect a majority of the attendees might only be familiar with the last three Doctors,” Smith said. “But we want to make sure fans of the old series have some Easter Egg moments.”
Trivia teams can have a maximum of six players, each of whom pays a $5 admission fee. Winners get a cash prize. Admission is first come, first served, so show up early if you want to be sure to get a table. (Some people arrived a couple hours before the popular “Breaking Bad” event this fall.)
